    M500 Maestro

There is one for sale locally.
I don't need it, but of course I'm interested.

Has anyone here listened to these?

    Re: M500 Maestro

    Hi Ron,

My pair has been flown in a buddy's garage for a few years simply for lack of room at home, but I have plenty of reason to hang out there when I can. I prefer them to the 19s I've heard, and they'll play louder too.

They're no beauty queens though, and better boxes would be the only tweak I'd attempt. Mine are a bit buzzy, having lived their former life in an ice rink. (Added; guess I should qualify that... it's hard to tell if it's the boxes or my buddy's sh## falling off his garage walls...). They do raise some funny reactions from his neighbor's livestock...

Waiting for a mate would be the problem...

The one I've found is really nice.
Obvious good components. I like the CD horns.

Agree with finding a mate, when one does, it will probably be 2!

It's bass reflex, not that much diff from a 19 or Valencia.

I might see if I can get it for a song....and wait.
I don't have quite enough altecs yet......

    Interesting crossover, 2k?

Altec made a processor with specific modules for this series of speaker system, heard a pair(9815's i think) with the processor a couple years back. It was really good.................

630Hz with a 909/loading cap. I doubt if the 3154 would do justice to 1200Hz, much less 2k, the other end is where it shines.
